A Print That Began With a Story
Every print begins with an idea. The most memorable ones begin with a story.
When Ali and I started talking about the denu × Philosophy Australia collection, we knew we wanted to create something that felt distinctly Australian - but in a way that was less expected.
Looking Beyond the Expected: Native Australian Botanicals
Rather than reaching for waratahs and gum leaves, we looked deeper into our native landscape, into the botanicals that have long been treasured not just for their beauty, but for their usefulness as bush tucker, medicinal plants, spices and aromatics.
Meet the Artist: Rosie Hawkswell
To bring that vision to life, we worked with Sydney artist Rosie Hawkswell whose expressive style perfectly captured the mood we were hoping to create.
"I wanted the artwork to feel organic and immersive, as though the botanicals were naturally weaving and moving across the fabric," Rosie says. "There is a softness to Australian flora that often gets overlooked. I wanted to celebrate its beauty in a way that felt contemporary, layered and timeless."
The Botanicals in the Reflect PrintThe artwork features Cape York Lily, Native Thyme, Southern Blue Gum, Lemon Myrtle, Veined Sun Orchid, Finger Lime and Cinnamon Myrtle. Together they create a rich visual tapestry that speaks to both the beauty and the quiet usefulness of Australia's native botanicals.
The Colour Palette: Australian Landscape Through Rosie's Eyes
The palette reflects the diversity of the landscape itself. Deep rainforest greens, emeralds and soft khakis evoke the calm of native forests. Warm orange-red tones move through the design like flashes of sunlight through the canopy.
"I was inspired by the colours and contrasts you discover when you spend time in nature," Rosie explains. "The more closely you look, the more layers you find. I wanted the print to have that same sense of discovery."
The Finished Collection: Luxurious, Wearable, Timeless
The result is a 100% silk satin artwork print that feels luxurious yet wearable, expressive yet timeless. denu’s Reflect products are featuring this beautiful print, too, making them very distinct from our usual style.
A special celebration of Australian creativity, nature and craftsmanship, designed to be worn, loved and remembered.

The story behind Reflect - a two-ingredient natural fragrance made with lavender and ylang ylang pure essential oils. Created in Melbourne as part of the collaboration with Philosophy Australia. I wanted to create a scent that captured the feeling of wearing the collection. Lavender brings calm and clarity, helping to steady the senses. Ylang ylang brings a beautiful soft floral warmth while encouraging feelings of comfort, confidence and connection. Together, they create something that feels feminine, composed and quietly powerful.
